Cita:Konami Corporation released its financial results today for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, revealing operating income of 10.3 billion yen ($106 million) and a 37 percent decrease in video game sales at 10.8 million units.

Konami posted 217.6 billion yen ($2.13 billion) in net revenue and 6.2 billion yen ($60 million) in net income. The company's forecast expects a year-over-year 2.7 percent increase in net revenues, a 1.1 percent increase in net income and 16.5 percent operating income for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015.

Konami's Digital Entertainment business section recorded net revenues of 104.3 billion yen ($1.02 billion) and operating income of 11.7 billion yen ($114 million). The company's soccer titles brought in 3.89 million units for the year, while Metal Gear titles hit 3.37 million units. PlayStation 3 titles contributed to 49 percent of sales, PlayStation 4 at 8 percent and Xbox One at 3 percent.

The company reports "solid sales" of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, Professional Baseball Spirits 2014 and Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card games. Sustained revenue contributions came from key SNS titles such as Dragon Collection and a continued growth in number of native app downloads.

This included the over-performance of "DuckTales: Remastered" for overseas in addition to the aforementioned "Monster Hunter 4" showing strong sales.

c. Sales of "Lost Planet 3" (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC), were below expectations due in part to intensifying competition in the European and U.S. markets.

d. Meanwhile, the online game "Monster Hunter Frontier G" (for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U) performed lower than anticipated, but the browser game "Onimusha Soul" which was distributed in Taiwan with the aim of expanding Capcom's business fields, garnered a great deal of attention and ranked first in popularity. This thereby marked the beginnings of gaining a foothold in the market for the local corporation, which
was established two years ago.

e. However, mobile contents underperformed as a whole due in part to a lack of major titles and the fiercely competitive environment even though "Monster Hunter Hunting Quest" performed steadily.

f. As a result, net sales were 65,824 million yen (up 3.4% from the previous fiscal year), and operating income was 4,489 million yen (down 36.4% from the previous fiscal year).

Mira que Namco nunca ha sido santo de mi devoción, pero en los últimos años lo está haciendo bastante bien.

A Konami le quitas el Pro y Metal Gear y se queda en nada la pobre.

Hola.

No sé como ha podido vender tanto Battle of Z, a pesar de lo mal parados que han salido los Dragon Ball de esta generación, todavía siguen moviendo cifras decentes.

Hombre, yo creo que 3 millones en Japón los va a vender. Así que las cifras en occidente no tienen que ser tan buenas.

Al menos con esta entrega son expectativas reales. Todavía recuerdo los 2,5 millones que esperaban del 4 en Japón. Y lo vendió en una semana y han distribuido más de 4.

Eso si, en navidades lo sobredistribuyeron, ahora los minoristas están recortando el precio del juego.
