Ha muerto a los 46 años. Según el Wall Street Journal le encontró un guionista en el baño de su apartamento de Manhattan a las 11:45 con una aguja hipodérmica en el brazo. Philip Seymour Hoffman es conocido por pelis como Truman Capote, El gran Lebowski, El talento de Mr. Ripley y, más recientemente, en The Master y Los juegos del hambre: En llamas. Phillip Seymour Hoffman fue un reconocido heroinómano y en varias ocasiones intentó luchar contra la adicción sometiéndose a rehabilitación, y aunque la droga se lo llevara por delante, él fue un pedazo de actor y se merece nuestro respeto.

Eventually, you start hurting because of all the Tylenol they put in the Percocets. So then you hear from a friend about cold water extraction, You start purifying your Percs so you can get high and not feel like shit the next day. Then you start re-capsuling your powdered Percs because they taste like bitter ass. But you realize, wait a minute, if it's in powder form - you can snort it! Soon you realize crushing, filtering and snorting Percs is both really expensive and difficult. So your dealers says, hey, wait if you want, I can just sell you powdered heroin and it will get you that super warm and wonderful feeling you love without all that work, plus it is cheaper! So you start snorting heroin.

This works for a while, maybe even a long while. But the fact is, now you're a junkie. You look forward to the high more than anything else in your life. You ignore your kids, your job, your wife, all your hobbies have been long forgotten. The cycle of addiction however is far from over, and in all honesty snorting heroin is disgusting. Snorting things causes the residue to drip down the back of your throat. Unlike Cocaine, which gives a numb kind of cooling drip that is actually very pleasant, heroin gives you a slimy, earthy, woody, nasty altogether filthy type of post nasal drip.

Yo creo que en cuanto pueda me volveré a poner Synecdoche, New York, que me parece bastante apropiada para la ocasión, por desgracia. Su mejor papel en mi opinión, además de ser una de mis películas favoritas. Aprovecho para recomendarla, que es bastante desconocida, y ya digo que se marca un papelón.

Que descanse en paz, se va uno de los mejores actores que teníamos en la actualidad.
