Vandal - 9.3

Vida Extra

Cita:Part of me still yearns for those dusty carpets of the first Luigi's Mansion - the near pitch black corridors, the fumbling around in the dark. This third entry, by contrast, feels more like Luigi has left the haunted house and gained free reign around the neighbouring theme park. But what a theme park. It's left me excited to see where the series goes next.

Polygon (no score):
Cita:Next Level Games continues its strong tradition of granting Luigi far more depth than his superstar older brother, even if he is always doomed to keep getting scared for our enjoyment.

Kotaku (no score):
Cita:It’s the sheer variety of experiences in Luigi’s Mansion 3 that keeps it entertaining throughout. While you might at first think you’re in for a repetitive time as you go through the first few floors and find nothing but standard hotel rooms, things get quite unexpected as you continue higher and higher. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it’s a solid take on a series that hasn’t had many entries over the last nearly 20 years. Mostly, it’s just nice to see that Luigi is indeed alive, and not dead.

Ars Technica (no score):
Cita:As the mansion's later levels open up, Nintendo's designers do a pretty remarkable job of playing with momentum by way of a sort of accordion-squeeze of level density. Meaning: it's easy to get caught up in Luigi's Mansion 3 vacuuming every corner and toying with physics possibilities, since the designers have ensured that nearly every visible object can be affected. Thus, some later levels will have larger, longer, and more ornate chambers that connect the smaller puzzle rooms. These have been built with a lack of manipulable objects—and thus, an understanding that you don't have to be OCD about their every corner. Take in the gorgeous rendering of stones, metals, fabrics, and other materials. Marvel at the lighting and particle effects, which Luigi's always-shining flashlight makes apparent. Breathe for a second, instead of vacuuming.

VGC (5/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a stunning, spooky adventure that puts its hero, and the game’s Canadian developer, firmly on the map. Mario may hog the spotlight, but this Christmas’s best Switch adventure belongs to his little brother.

Nintenderos (9.5/10, review in spanish):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a clear candidate to become not only one of the best games of the year on Nintendo Switch but one of the best titles in the video game market. He is not only a worthy successor of Luigi’s Mansion 2 but a great Nintendo Switch title that stands as one of the best releases the console has received since its launch. It is a title that is called to vindicate the role that the Luigi’s Mansion video game series deserves in the market and to place Mario's brother at a very similar level if not equal to the titles of the video game star plumber.

ZWAME Jogos (9.5/10, review in portuguese):
Cita:Next Level Games did a commendable job, finally giving the green plumber the game he deserves, with a level of polish and smiles per minute that would be expect from a Nintendo's internal studio (a huge compliment). Luigi's Mansion 3 isn't just the best game in the series, it's also one of the best Switch games and absolutely unmissable.

Vandal (9.3/10, review in spanish):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is a real wonder. A very varied, surprising, ingenious adventure, with a lot of personality and fun as she alone that has prevented us from detaching ourselves from the command until finishing it, and even then, we have continued playing until we find everything, something that only the best games get and that demonstrates its undeniable quality . Undoubtedly, a new essential Nintendo Switch that should not be missing in the collection of any holder of the console.

VentureBeat (92/100):
Cita:This is a huge step up for a franchise that has always been enjoyable but never felt special. Well, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is special. It’s a spooky adventure full of top-notch puzzles and so much charm that you’ll be convinced by the end that maybe Luigi has been the best brother all along.

Hobby Consolas (92/100, review in spanish):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is, without doubt, the best entry of the series. As simple as that. Levels are much more varied and visual astounding, a little delight that you can fully play alone or in coop mode, multiplayer modes aside. Its lovely sense of humor, the sympathy of the ghosts, and the 20+ hours to finish (more for the 100%) make the rest.

Meristation (9.2/10, review in spanish):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a tribute to the figure of Luigi, an adventure that encompasses the character and celebrates the consummation of an idea born eighteen years ago. It's not just the best installment of the saga, it's one of the best Nintendo Switch video games. Level design, use of resources, variety of situations and final bosses that leave the bar very high are just some of the elements that allow this video game to be defined as an excellent work. Leaving aside its low difficulty, both its replayability and the enjoyment of each and every one of the floors of the hotel make it impossible not to recommend a game that is located, de facto, on the console podium. Luigi stomps back; He does it with a title that is a declaration of intent: it is not the end of a trilogy, it is the beginning of a saga that can continue to be explored for many years. Everything goes in Luigi’s Mansion 3, and the result is memorable.

Power Unlimited (92/100):
Cita:Due to its design as a hotel with 15 very varied floors, this has become Luigi’s most versatile, surprising, beautiful and enjoyable adventure to date.

IGN Italia (9.1, review in italian):
Cita:Funnier than ever, Luigi's Mansion 3 is a perfect comeback for the series and a worthy addition to anyone's Switch library.

Digitally Downloaded (4.5/5):
Cita:For my first experience with the Luigi's Mansion series, I had such a good time. Boiled down it's a fairly simple riff on GhostBusters, but Luigi's Mansion has been produced with such a sense of humour and eye for detail that it has a personality and uniquely Nintendo quality all of its own. Halloween always brings the deluge of seasonably-themed games, and so many of them aim for a true kind of horror. Nintendo tops the pack this year with something that revels in the silliness of the season, and it does so with panache.

Vooks (4.5/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the best in the series, gooey hands down. Its fully co-op compatible story mode constantly delights and innovates, taking full advantage of Luigi and Gooigi’s vacuuming antics, both old and new. Although the dedicated multiplayer modes ultimately aren’t going to sustain repeat visits, they are a sideshow to the story’s main haunt.

3DNews (9/10, review in russian):
Cita:For about six months now, Nintendo has been steadily releasing one excellent exclusive per month, and October was no exception. Luigi's Mansion 3 is one of the best adventures for the Nintendo Switch, which looks great and plays just as well. It’s hard not to notice how much effort and time was invested in every small detail, and all this was not in vain - thanks to the visual design, animation, lots of different situations and interesting uses of the mechanic, Luigi's Mansion 3 gives so many positive emotions that it’s definitely not possible to miss it recommended.

Impulsegamer (4.5/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the high point of the series not by virtue of revolution, but by refinement. The developers have expertly identified the individual strengths of the previous two Luigi’s Mansion games and meshed these together with a slew of new features to create the most compelling Luigi’s Mansion game to date. The environments are huge, varied and exciting to explore. The new abilities are fun to use and add new layers to the puzzling and combat challenges. The addition of co-op to the story mode is a great way to share the experience with a partner and the multiplayer modes are nice value-adds to the package, despite feeling slightly underwhelming compared to the main game. It’s very difficult to fault Luigi’s Mansion 3, which has earned it my full recommendation to anyone that owns a Switch.

Destructoid (9/10):
Cita:The Luigi’s Mansion franchise has come a long way since the original was criticized over its lack of content. With an absorbing single-player campaign and a Scarescraper that still packs a punch, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the most content-rich entry in the series, and one of the best times I've had with my Switch in 2019.

Nintendo Life (9/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is not only a graphical powerhouse and showcase for Next Level Games’ unrivalled mastery of video game animation, it’s also an immense helping of spooky fun as well. The amount of care and consideration poured into every facet of the game is abundantly clear, and it all results in one of the most enjoyable and attractive Switch titles of the year. It's also the undisputed high point of a franchise which – following this sterling release – will hopefully get even more love and attention from Nintendo fandom, and the gaming community as a whole.

We Got This Covered (4.5/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 finds so many ways to expand upon the franchise’s classic formula to create something even more challenging and exciting, with Luigi’s new abilities paving the way for some amazing level designs, fun puzzles, and robust boss fights. It breaks up its pacing well, and makes even the simplest of combat and exploration satisfying and fun. I couldn’t have asked for a better entry into the series to build upon the original, and I hope to see yet another sequel with equally innovative gameplay.

Shacknews (9/10):
Cita:I enjoyed every moment of my time with Luigi’s Mansion 3 and while I’d have loved for the game to be a bit longer, I will say that it was nice to finally play a game without any kind of artificial endings. There aren’t any big surprises here, and that’s perfectly okay with me. If you’re looking for a fun, enjoyable, and hilarious adventure to add to your Nintendo Switch’s library, then you can’t go wrong with Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Eurogamer Italy (9/10, review in italian):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is a transversal title, suitable for players of any age and type. It is extremely immediate and accessible but also rich and profound for those who want to discover all its secrets. From this moment on, the race for the Game of the Year will have an additional competitor, armed with a mustache and a vacuum cleaner to envy Mr. Dyson.

CGMagazine (9/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 may be the most fun I’ve had on the Switch since Mario Odyssey–and like Odyssey, I genuinely did not want to stop playing it. It is overflowing with fun, humour, challenge, and, ironically, life. There’s a little something for everyone, fans and newcomers alike. Do yourself a favour and do your Halloween right by playing Luigi’s Mansion 3!

Gameblog.fr (9/10, review in french):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3's exotic vacation resembles a spooky comedy, with each floor of this sumptuous hotel giving rise to a full-fledged play that revisits the classics of horror, thrilling suspense. A work from the fabulous imagination of Next Level Games, illustrated by the malicious riddles and ruffles face-to-face poltergeists for some anthology. And these rantings are combined wonderfully duo, a fortiori alongside a second player in flesh more than bone, Gluigi's viscous peculiarities both fluidizing and enriching the experience. Too bad that the extra elements of the phantom hunter set are acquired almost all from the outset, because the exploration does not require much to slip behind the scenes, except for the score. Cleaning is no less exciting, as highlighted by the multiplayer dimension, the scope significantly expanded. Enhanced by an increase of traps and hilarious objects, the rise of the tower relies judiciously on the team spirit, so as to haunt eternal evenings between friends in joy, and good horror ...

GamesRadar (4.5/5):
Cita:Overall, Luigi's Mansion 3 manages to get the right balance between old and new to deliver a refreshing spin on the formula we've come to know and love from the series. Newcomers and longtime fans are sure to delight in exploring everything the hotel has to offer. Solving all of the wonderfully clever puzzles will leave you feeling satisfied, and with so much personality and charm, Luigi's Mansion 3 truly proves the green plumber can be the star of the show. After all, Mario can't have the limelight all the time.

TheSixthAxis (9/10):
Cita:With a lot of gameplay enhancements from previous iterations, a gorgeously rendered game world, and a whole host more besides, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is easily the apex of the franchise. The sheer amount to see and do, along with the amount of adorable details, make this game a wonderful experience and one I would recommend. Sucking at games has (rarely) felt this good.

Nintendo Enthusiast (9/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a fantastic evolution for the series. Its significantly longer campaign, slew of multiplayer options, and more varied gameplay distinguish it from the more arcadey, speedrun-friendly original to a point that direct comparison is challenging, but Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an obvious step up from Dark Moon, which was already a great game in its own right. The hotel adventure is amazing and the ScareScraper is addictive enough to add hours of gameplay. Series fans have a fantastic sequel to look forward to, and newcomers should take Luigi’s Mansion 3 as an opportunity to jump into one of Nintendo’s most unique franchises while it is firing on all cylinders.

The Games Machine (9/10, review in italian):
Cita:As a very detailed diorama, Luigi's Mansion 3 is a contained environment, but in which the details on which to focus attention abound. Accomplice in a perfectly harmonious graphic, which brings to new heights the cartoonish style with which Switch is perfectly at ease, the Hotel Miramostri is immersed in an atmosphere that combines fear and laughter through environmental puzzles and epic boss fight. Perhaps a few less suggestions would not hurt, but the counterpart of that typical Nintendo approach that makes its titles treated like few others on the market.

Jeuxvideo.com (18/20, review in french):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is clearly the best episode of the series, taking up the atmosphere of the first opus and offering many unforgettable moments that we do not want to reveal to you. If you like a bit of Nintendo humor and exploration, you can not be disappointed with what is already one of the best games of the year!

The Digital Fix (9/10):
Cita:Despite a few niggling control and camera issues, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a world of fun, and full of Nintendo's iconic style and substance. It builds on what makes the series great, and is easily on the best games of 2019. An essential purchase for every Switch owner!

JeuxActu (18/20, review in french):
Cita:With so much praise, you must certainly ask yourself if Luigi's Mansion 3 is perfectible. Yes, especially at the level of multi whose modes are far from dreaming; they are more like chips than a real extension of the solo campaign. We did not have the opportunity to try the online game for lack of session available at the time of our test (it was well in the planning of Nintendo, let us specify), which would have made it possible to know if the netcode was improved from Luigi's Mansion 2. Still, the rest is ultra-solid with a square physics engine, little onion graphics, exhilarating cooperation, top sound design, ubiquitous humor, better embodied ghosts, and oiled gameplay . Even the aim is never faulted by the prospects, and the developers have allowed themselves a small friendly nod to the horror film Poltergeist. What more can I ask, if not the return of other historical licenses on Switch with such a degree of quality?

IGN Spain (9/10, review in spanish):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 has its buts, but they are not heavy enough to get rid of the feeling of being in front of one of the Top 5 of the console currently. A real must have for everyone who has ever loved Nintendo.

Screen Rant (4.5/5):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 has better bosses and puzzles than its predecessors and there is never a dull moment to be had when exploring the Last Resort Hotel. It was easy to write off the earlier Luigi's Mansion games as filler titles that were released between the real Super Mario Bros. games, but Luigi's Mansion 3 proves that the franchise can stand on its own two feet and provide one of the best games available on the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Forbes (9/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a little like Control, the sort of game that you don’t see as often as you used to but cling to when you can. It is a contained, crafted experience, no more and no less than a professional, clean and near-perfect execution of an idea that you already like. It is not shockingly new or transcendent, but you don’t always want that. It is relentlessly charming, consistently charming, and punctuated in every moment by the sheer joy of sucking. When the weather turns cold, pop this one in and imagine the troubles of the world gone, at least for a few hours.

3DJuegos (9/10, review in spanish):
Cita:The enchanted hotel of Luigi's Mansion 3 has become an ideal game scenario to enjoy a great action adventure and puzzles with the great virtue of surprising from beginning to end. The design of the levels, the ingeniousness of their puzzles and the excitement of their fighting make this new Switch exclusive an essential, really spectacular, and one of the best games of 2019.

Everyeye.it (9/10, review in italian):
Cita:Eighteen years after its debut, Nintendo's "soft horror" series still proves to be one of the most brilliant and iconic of those created by the Kyoto company. We first of all make it a matter of imagination: Luigi's Mansion 3 takes us into grim but playful, macabre but fun environments, and reworks the classic iconography usually associated with Mario and Luigi with great taste and style. This chapter in particular does not save on the front of variety, and from floor to floor it adds elements, objects, adversaries to create small worlds in miniature. Whether it's the desert expanses in front of an Egyptian pyramid, or a very modern fitness center where ghosts go by weight, the areas that find space in the Hotel Miramostri are unique and unforgettable. Over the course of the thirteen hours of the adventure we then come across a literally overwhelming quantity of different situations: inspired puzzles, tests of attention and timing, observation challenges and moments in which to test patience and intuition. It is true that the phases of action, in which to catch the elusive and spiteful phantoms, are perhaps the weakest point of production, but their purpose is above all to move the progress a little, leaving the pillars of the experience be it the curious exploration, the puzzle solving and the boss fight tension. Luigi's Mansion 3 is an extremely intelligent and even original adventure game, yet another demonstration of how vital and vibrant Nintendo's creativity is.

Multiplayer.it (9/10, review in italian):
Cita:The third is the right one. Luigi's Mansion 3 places itself directly in the lead as the best game in the series, thanks to the perfect union between the mechanics of the progenitor and the intuitions of the popular but not so popular second game. Here is everything, all that is missing is that flicker of extra difficulty that would have made certain moments not so much more difficult, but more intense. But not all of us are aces with a pad in hand, and there are also those who start now: never forget that this game is one of the very few, if not the only, appreciable horror even by the little ones.

Cerealkillerz (8.7/10, review in german):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 offers much more content than its two predecessors, not only in terms of gaming scope but also in the sprawling levels. These are also so brimming with secrets that attentive players can search each and every time several times and find new secrets, because with the combination of gloom lamp, Pümpel and Fluigi can solve quite sophisticated puzzles. The Coop is a nice treat, Nintendo seems to have been a multiplayer part for the third offshoot a concern. One aspect that was not considered, however, is the vibration function used in the hunt for Buu Huus, but not supported by the Nintendo Switch Lite. This unfortunately makes the matter on the pure handheld an annoying guesswork. Otherwise, Luigi's Mansion 3 complements the game library of the Nintendo Switch quite wonderfully. Hats off to the little brother whose bad luck is causing us so much fun!

Press Start Australia (8.5/10):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is an extremely solid entry and another must-have for Switch owners. The game has a tonne of improvements that feel natural and make for great puzzles. It's also an absolute treat visually.

WellPlayed (8.5/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a fun, endearing, endlessly creative and beautiful puzzle-platformer that can proudly sit amongst the other greats in the Nintendo Switch’s library. It has its moments of frustration and some odd issues, but it’s an experience that quite literally sucks you in from the very beginning, and will have you captured you right up until the end.

God is a Geek (8.5/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is delightful. It’s an adventure that begs to be unfurled. It’s polished, sounds great, has mechanics that belie their simplicity with continuous surprise, and is fun for everyone. It’s not scary and it’s not meant to be. It isn’t the best game you’ll ever play, but it’s a fun, cheery romp that is just a lovely time, and it really is thoroughly enjoyable.

Game Informer (8.5/10):
Cita:With unique puzzles, diverse floor themes, and exciting boss battles, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a spooky delight for players of all experience levels. Seasoned ghostbusters and rookie paranormal enthusiasts alike would do well to look into Luigi’s latest eerie adventure.

Glitched Africa (8.5/10):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a fantastic adventure game and the co-op mode is just an added extra feature here. The story takes a good 15-hours to complete and every floor you enter is a joy to complete. It could be one of the best games on Switch this year.

LevelUp (8.5/10, review in spanish):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a game that will satisfy those who have enjoyed the past 2 adventures of this cowardly plumber. Next Level Games took what worked for Dark Moon, combined it with the best of the first installment and let its creativity fly in other branches to deliver what I think is the best delivery of Luigi’s Mansion. Yes, it is a pity that its rhythm is not ideal for a game of its kind, but that does not prevent it from being of high quality.

What I consider really valuable of Luigi’s Mansion 3 is that he returned the charisma to the series. Dark Moon is a game with a lot of successes, but a great sin: many of its elements feel generic, which caused all Nintendo magic to evaporate. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the opposite and is that each of its floors is full of personality, which makes them memorable and causes you to not mind exploring them again and again to find all their secrets.

Although he did not consider it one of the essentials of Nintendo Switch, I do put it just one step below that category. This is why I recommend it to all Luigi’s Mansion fans, as well as those looking for a game with well-designed puzzles and an interesting concept.

IGN (8.3/10):
Cita:Mario, it turns out, isn’t the only plumber in Nintendo’s employ who can carry his own great game. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is so much fun, so charming, and so smartly designed that, moving forward, I really hope we get more than three of these games every 20 years. It’s absolutely the best Ghostbusters game ever made – it just happens to star Mario’s scaredy-cat brother rather than Peter Venkman and Ray Stantz.

4Players.de (82/100, review in german):
Cita:The most beautiful I think the arrival in a newly unlocked floor: I am pleased about the new scenario and try in the lovingly designed rooms around, which is all absorbable. In terms of interactivity, I have to praise the developer because there are countless objects and well-placed secrets. The sound design is also great: the sweet-sounding plings and swoosh motivate you to search, and there are also dramatic organ inlays. Together with the beautiful scenery, the funny animations and the witty boss duels results in a very atmospheric scary atmosphere. So why is the grasp for the award failing? On the one hand there are too easy fights against standard ghosts - not one player in the whole game is a real threat! On the other hand, the game over the good 15 hours (or more, if you are looking for jewels and Buu Huus) to uniform - again and again you sucked the complete furniture broken, hoards Goldtaler and then in the end can do little with it. Even the occasional backtracking (keyword: torture kittens) can annoy. The bottom line is Luigi's Mansion 3 is still a pretty adventure that entertains both young and old players really well. Only it's not a Nintendo stroke of genius like Super Mario Odyssey or the last Zelda.

Stevivor (8/10):
Cita:Despite its annoyances, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a hauntingly good time, packed with charm everywhere you look. As someone who has once dabbled in the franchise, I’m already hooked — I can imagine those already in love with Luigi (and Gooigi!) will find this a trick rather than a treat.

The AU Review (4/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an example of Nintendo at their best. It’s a little different to the usual Super Mario fare but much of it is still very familiar. It features gorgeous presentation, striking the perfect comedy-horror tone from the jump, and its animations are broad and expressive. For families looking for a haunted house to explore over Halloween, look no further, and don’t worry — Luigi’s got your back.

Twinfinite (4/5):
Cita:There are some shortcomings here and there but if you are a die-hard Luigi’s Mansion fan, you will adore this game. Heck, even if you’ve never played a game in the series and you own a Switch, do yourself a favor and check this one out.

GameSpot (8/10):
Cita:While the multiplayer modes may not hold your attention for long, the strength of the Luigi's Mansion series has always stemmed from the satisfaction of exploring its carefully constructed settings, and in that regard Luigi's Mansion 3 certainly succeeds. The game may not radically diverge from the series' formula, but it offers up another meticulously crafted set of challenges to overcome while smoothing out some of the issues that held Dark Moon back, and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you clear a particularly head-scratching obstacle is just as potent now as the first time Luigi unwillingly strapped a vacuum to his back and stepped into a haunted mansion.

EGM (4/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the biggest and best entry in a befuddling franchise, and a game that really makes a case for everyone’s favorite second fiddle to get more spin-off adventures. Developer Next Level Games has expanded on the Poltergust’s abilities in meaningful ways, adding more variety to the action and puzzles alike. Gooigi might seem a little shoehorned, but it’s a great excuse for cooperative multiplayer on a system built for it. A few minor annoyances aside, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a strange, charming, and generous sequel.

Metro GameCentral (8/10):
Cita:If we seem a little down on certain aspects, it’s only because we had hoped this would be the definitive entry in the series and the game to elevate it to a status alongside Nintendo’s other top tier franchises. It’s not quite that good but it is still an absolute joy to play through. And even if it doesn’t offer any seasonal scares the big cheesy grin you’ll be wearing the entire time is a more than welcome alternative.

New Game Network (80/100):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is a good continuation of the series that manages to retain its unique sensibilities, while becoming very much a modern Switch title. The gameplay mechanics are tightly designed and help create both satisfying combat and great exploration, thanks in full to the very well designed levels. It's charming to look at and listen to, and with a few different multiplayer options there's plenty of content to enjoy both in the campaign and with others. It very much follows the modern Nintendo formula of boss design and other idiosyncrasies, so you're not going to be surprised by anything, but that doesn't take away from what is a great overall package - just in time for Halloween.

USgamer (4/5):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 occasionally suffers because of its fixed camera and a ghastly boss fight here and there, but the "goo" overwhelms the bad in this haunting adventure. Sucking up stuff with your Poltergust is still satisfying, and slamming ghosts into each other feels so right. Add buckets of charm, and you have a game that proves—yet again—that Luigi is the superior Mario Brother.

Cita:If you’re looking for a challenge then Luigi’s Mansion 3 might not be for you. The game is only mildly difficult but – for most – that won’t really matter. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an absolute delight from start to finish, bursting with charm and re-playable mechanics.

Critical Hit (8/10):
Cita:Overall, I’m a little disappointed with Luigi’s Mansion 3 - though that's largely down to my own expectations. It’s an undoubtedly good game that’s competently made. It oozes charm and is filled with clever puzzles and fun boss fights. It’s just that all the bits between those start to become tedious before the game’s end.

FNintendo (8/10, review in portuguese):
Cita:There's plenty of action to keep the players around the screens and the omnipresent humour and marvelous looking visuals do wonders for the game's capital. It's true that its plot could use some reworking and its controls would improve with a bit of tweaking but Luigi's Mansion 3 is such an entertaining experience that by now, it only makes a fourth game in the series more desired.

NintendoWorldReport (8/10):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is a fun time, but not without its fair share of faults. While the gameplay and presentation deserve my highest praises, there are elements I'm less high on. The good and underutilized floors keep going back and forth without there being a real consistent pattern. It doesn't exactly help that the game gives away its conclusion too soon, way before you even come close to it. The ScareScraper is a lovely time as well, though with content being strapped back for a singular, clean game mode. Players who want to continuously enjoy the game might be better off trying to 100% the Story Mode. The collectibles are nicer to deal with now, which makes exceeding those initial ten hours not even a problem. Oh, and that Slam attack is pretty incredible as well.

My Nintendo News (8/10):
Cita:With a near-perfect story mode, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a polished spectral comedy that keeps you on your toes. While its multiplayer and co-op modes are slick to play, the minigames lower the bar. Yet it’s in the animation and the devilish puzzles that really makes this game shine, with or without the Strobulb. Well done Luigi, those ghosts didn’t stand a chance.

InsideGamer.nl (8/10, review in dutch):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is sometimes a bit messy and a bit lazy, but that is in stark contrast to the funny puzzles, action and visual spectacle that the game offers: a flock of strange birds, an arsenal of original themes with accompanying items and an irresistible frightening starring.

Nintendo Insider (8/10):
Cita:Make no mistake; Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a good game. With a great variety in themes, inventive bosses, and some really cool small ideas that break up the main gameplay elements. There are just a few things holding it back from being great, such as a massive lack of enemy variation and I do feel that at certain points, the games plays it a little too safe at times. Nevertheless, I had tons of fun playing through and it is an easy recommendation to anybody, as it will appeal to so many different people. Luigi is still my favourite Ghostbuster.

Cubed3 (8/10):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 delivers up to its expectations, and builds on the first two entries in the series. It has the right level of challenge, varied locales, brilliant animation and comedy. The downfalls are that the base game is relatively short and the free multiplayer can get boring after a while. Nonetheless this looks superb right down to the charming characterisation of Luigi's face, or the stunning environments, and it is well worth a buy.

Spaziogames (8/10, review in italian):
Cita:Luigi's Mansion 3 is the real sequel of the original released on Gamecube back in 2002. It recovers the style and structure of the game, adding the original mechanics of Gommiluigi which is obviously the great added value. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is addictive because it is fun to play and beautiful to watch, even if in the end it turns out to be a less demanding adventure than we could have expected. Beyond this, it still remains a prestigious title, rightfully among the best Nintendo Switch releases, and a must if you can't wait to return to the fearful role of the second most famous plumber in video game history.

Tech Advisor (4/5):
Cita:Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a slick reminder that Luigi remains Nintendo’s most wasted asset (sorry Waluigi fans), and he and the ghosts are as charming and characterful as anything in a mainline Mario game.

Despite a few wobbles the mix of action and puzzles delivers too, and the only thing the game really needs is an editor: surely the 17 floors here could have been condensed down to lucky number 13?

COGconnected (75/100):
Cita:Scoring this game for me is a struggle. The core design structure, the aesthetic presentation, and the basic game feel are all excellent. Yet I hated Luigi’s Mansion 3 so acutely that I could not complete the game. There was no single puzzle that outwit me in the end. Instead, that rising sense of terrible dread just became too much. I wasn’t even that far from finishing the game! I just couldn’t grapple with the knowledge that all my suffering was a prelude to something worse. If this was a unique psychological tick, I wouldn’t even alter the final score for it. I have no delusions of my unique mental composition, however. Others will suffer in the way I have, and they must be warned. To that end, Nintendo has succeeded in creating a truly dreadful experience, a game that drills into your psyche and alters your brain. Heed my dire ramblings, and take this gorgeous, well-designed journey at your peril.

XGN (7.5/10, review in dutch):
Cita:Apart from the negatives, Luigi’s Mansion 3 has become an entertaining game, although it is unfortunate that the game has got stuck and especially a heavy control. If you can get used to this, you have a cool title that is fun for young and old. The game also looks fantastic, the gameplay is great, the environments are delicious. No shortage of creation.

Gamer.nl (7.5/10, review in dutch):
Cita:The stars of Luigi’s Mansion 3 are the huggable slime ball Gooigi and the particularly creative, varied hotel floors packed with secrets and puzzles. In the area of ghost hunting, this third part feels less varied due to the greatly improved vacuum cleaner and the lack of varied minds. "Luigi's Mansion 3 is longer and in some respects more extensive than its predecessors, but does not come into its own because of these and other shortcomings.

GamePro Germany (73/100):
Cita:I like Luigi so much better than Mario. Somehow he is much more likeable to me. Maybe because, unlike his brother, he sometimes gets scared in dangerous situations. In fact, he slips so much into Luigi's Mansion 3 that I have a really bad conscience in between when I send him to the next floor. I really want to see which room is next waiting for me, because the details, the setting and the opponent design are very big movies (in floor eight even in the truest sense of the word, because there is a cinema waiting for us).

The control, however, has more B-movie quality. The key mapping made sure that I would have hurled my controller against some of the boss fights against the wall. Although I got used to it over time, it would have been even better if the buttons had been assigned differently from the start.
