En definitiva, Watch Dogs Legion se convierte en el mejor Watch Dogs hasta la fecha. Londres ofrece un abanico de posibilidades nunca visto en un sandbox, pero es que además la experiencia resulta lo suficientemente variada como para no perder el interés por su historia en ningún momento. Lástima que no llegue "completo" de lanzamiento y haya que esperar hasta diciembre por el online.

Watch Dogs: Legion ha cumplido sus promesas. Ubisoft Toronto ha centrado sus esfuerzos en hacer que la mecánica Play as Anyone funcione correctamente. Y sí, lo han hecho. El nivel de interacción disponible está por encima de la media dentro del género del mundo abierto. Realmente sientes que quienes te rodean tienen una vida, van más allá de un rostro digital aleatorio. Puedes reclutar a cualquier personaje del juego, independientemente de su ocupación o situación personal. Pero el sistema va más allá al tejer conexiones entre los ciudadanos. Tienen padres, tios, amigos. Estos sufren la pérdida de un ser querido y actúan en consecuencia. Intachable en este sentido. Como decíamos durante el análisis, esta tercera entrega se siente una ampliación, no una evolución de lo visto en 2014 y 2016. Encontramos un mundo abierto construido sobre los mismos cimientos que sus antecesores, tanto para lo bueno como para lo malo, y se añaden nuevos ingredientes a una fórmula todavía más divertida de jugar si cabe. La infiltración se ve potenciada gracias al sistema de uniformes, que catalogábamos como si de un Hitman light se tratara, por no hablar de los gadgets desbloqueables vía menú tecnológico. En conclusión, Legion sacia la sed de Watch Dogs entre sus seguidores, al mismo tiempo que puede reunir a recién llegados atraídos por su gran mecánica inédita. La secuela debe ir mucho más allá: es hora de dar el siguiente paso de calidad.

Watch Dogs: Legion eleva la fórmula con la posibilidad de controlar a cualquier personaje, una propuesta única, compleja y cargada de posibilidades que, por desgracia, no casa bien con la narrativa. Pese a esto, se trata de un fantástico juego de acción, sigilo y hackeo en mundo abierto.

Watch Dogs Legion es un mundo abierto muy tradicional que se apoya en su nuevo sistema de reclutamiento, con posibilidades casi ilimitadas. Se echa de menos la figura de un protagonista y algo más de evolución en su base, pero perderse e interactuar por Londres resulta siempre divertido.

Se me ocurre, en medio de todo esto, que el problema fundamental de Watch Dogs: Legion es que está enamorado de su propia idea, pero no ha pensado, realmente, en lo que implica desarrollarla. Y, como consecuencia, el resultado es un juego que, si bien vistoso, es a casi todas luces demasiado incoherente la inmensa mayoría del tiempo. No es que le falten buenas ideas, algunas situaciones, misiones y mecánicas brillan en medio del caos y, en general, funciona razonablemente bien en distancias cortas. Pero conforme ya llevamos un buen puñado de horas sumergidos en su universo, las contradicciones empiezan muchísimo más que los aciertos. Seguramente habrá quien piense que es mejor así, que la política no tiene lugar en los videojuegos, y que la tibieza con la que Watch Dogs: Legion se aproxima a su temática es la mejor manera de afrontarla. Pero habrá otros muchos, como yo misma, que sientan que un juego que trae por bandera la idea de hacer la revolución, de buscar el cambio social, necesitaba sentarse a pensar un rato sobre lo que esto significa. Sobre el mundo en el que vivimos, y sobre las implicaciones de todo ello. Y en eso, definitivamente, no podemos decir que Legion haya hecho un buen trabajo.

Recorrer las calles de Londres en Watch Dogs Legion ha sido una experiencia de lo más divertida, con mucha acción, buen sigilo, montones de secretos por descubrir y la sensación de estar ante un gran mundo abierto que aprovecha al máximo su diseño, para que mires donde mires, siempre haya algo divertido que hacer, ningún viaje tedioso que realizar. La pena es que los objetivos, en general, son siempre los mismos, y aunque la variedad la aportas tú con tu ingenio y creatividad, habría estado genial contar con misiones más elaboradas que pusieran al límite a nuestros agentes. Para ellos también hay buenas palabras, porque si bien no tienen el carisma de un protagonista al uso, sus sutiles diferencias contribuyen a dar más alegría y variedad a la acción de Watch Dogs.

It’s Pokemon but with people, with the player wandering around London and “catching” weird and wonderful Operatives to add to their unlikely team of hackers. Its story may be tonally inconsistent in typical Ubisoft fashion, but it’s best enjoyed with your brain taking the backseat while your hiccuping drunk super-spy takes the wheel. While another cyberpunk game might do the genre’s themes more justice later this year, Watch Dogs: Legion‘s beautiful London and its array of recruitable denizens make it one of the most enjoyable games of the year.
