Stick It to The Man developer Ripstone Games has confirmed that it is working on Nintendo Switch. The studio is bringing a game to Nintendo’s latest console later this year. That’s all it’s saying for now, but it promises to share more details soon and will have a playable version of the unannounced title at E3 2017 next month. Here’s Ripstone’s full announcement:

It’s fair to say that we’re *very* excited to be making this particular announcement..

The title says it all: we’re bringing a game to Nintendo Switch!

And if that wasn’t exciting enough.. the game is coming this year! We are delighted to be working with Nintendo again after bringing numerous Ripstone titles to Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U, so watch this space for more details about our plans for Nintendo Switch.

The game will be playable at this year’s E3 in Los Angeles, so if you are a member of the press attending the show, drop us an email to press@ripstone.com and we can arrange to meet and talk all things Nintendo Switch.

Neko.Works is developing a new 3D turn-based Japanese-style RPG called “Project Light”, and it’s coming to the Wii U eShop.

Project Light takes place in an underground cyberpunk world ruled by a fierce empire. Main character Haru dreams of vast green plains and a clear blue sky, which comes in contrast to his reality.

Haru sets off on a journey to discover the mysteries of his world. He’ll team up with a number of allies, including a mysterious, silver haired girl that is key to his quest.

Project Light employs a turn-based battle system. All encounters take place directly on the field without transitions or loading.

Shuhei Yoshida, who as I’m sure many of you will know is president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Interactive Entertainment, has praised the fact that Nintendo is fully embracing the indie scene with the Nintendo Switch. Yoshida says that it’s a great thing for smaller independent developers and opens up whole new avenues for them. Here’s what he had to say during a recent interview at BitSummit.

Nintendo also has the impression of proactively taking in indie games. The indie game developers also seem to be more proactively [going] towards Nintendo Switch.

“I think it’s very good. We have been doing our utmost to support indie game creators until now, and a lot of very good indie games have been released. But recently Nintendo also has been approached by very good indie game developers, and they’re going to support middleware in the fastest time possible, so it does seem like they are putting in the effort. And I think that’s also a great thing for the indie game industry.”

If it can also make indie games more active?

“There are quite some parts where Nintendo users do not pile up with PlayStation users, so it should be possible to deliver games to that many users, shouldn’t it? I think from the eyes of indie game developers, Nintendo Switch may also have a side look of being easy to port games into.”

WayForward recently announced that Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is coming to Switch this summer. Even though the news was only just shared a few weeks ago, it looks like we won’t be waiting much longer for the release.

According to a listing on the eShop, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is heading to Switch in Europe next week. It will cost £15.99. We’d also not be surprised to see North America getting the game on the same day.
