Story
ÔÇô Begins in an alternative present after the overthrow of socialism in the Soviet Union
ÔÇô A group in favor of soldiers have defected from the new Russia plotting their revenge against the western world which was responsible for the upheavals in their country
ÔÇô The name of this organization is called the ÔÇ£School of DemocracyÔÇØ
ÔÇô The organization starts the attack in various parts of the world, causing serious damage in the process
ÔÇô Central character is codenamed Ivan
ÔÇô The other companions consisted of the top special forces of the Soviet Army
ÔÇô Their code name are Big Mouse, Jane Doe, C4, Ludmilla, Grudla Saha
ÔÇô This group is led by a shadowy figure who organized and trained the particular group using the ancient martial arts of his ancestors
ÔÇô After many missions, the team has forgotten their original purpose which was to restore the former Soviet Union
ÔÇô The latter mission they initiated the extermination of ÔÇ£dissidentsÔÇØ in a town in Latin America
ÔÇô The Big Mouse and his team used chemical weapons to exterminate an entire city including the civilian population
ÔÇô For Ivan, it was the straw that broke the camel back, which unleashed an internal conflict
ÔÇô Ivan was then classified a traitor and ordered to be executed on the spot
ÔÇô Ivan escapes with the intervention of UN forces which resulted with his arrest
ÔÇô Ivan was imprisoned at Guantanamo high security facility and sentenced to 850 years in prison for crimes against humanity
ÔÇô However, he came to an agreement and works for the US government as a liaison for the capture and destruction of his former group
ÔÇô The ÔÇ£School of DemocracyÔÇØ set in motion their ultimate plan
ÔÇô They aim for the destruction of all the satellites that were orbiting the planet, creating the so-called Kessler Effect
ÔÇô They aim to destroy the communication network and weapons systems which the army of the allies of the western world were relying on
Gameplay
ÔÇô Shooting and action
ÔÇô There are situations where a gun is not helpful when facing an enemy close to you, so melee combat is necessary
ÔÇô Ivan handles weapons like an iron beam, Japanese swords and other sharp objects
ÔÇô Automatic rifles, pistols, rocket lauchers, are weapons
ÔÇô Each has a different weight and utility in battle
ÔÇô Ivan is relatively fast, but every time you carry a big gun it changes his behavior in battle
ÔÇô Ex: when he holds a rocket, his evasion and jumping ability is lessened
ÔÇô The opposite happens when you are in possession of light weapons

Famitsu provides an update on DevilÔÇÖs Third this week. Along with the magazineÔÇÖs report, thereÔÇÖs also an interview with creator Tomonobu Itagaki.
First, hereÔÇÖs what Itagaki had to say about multiplayer:
Cita:ÔÇ£There are things like diplomacy chat that only clan leaders can use, so you can have conferences with other clans. IÔÇÖm a military enthusiast so there are also many political elements in the game.ÔÇØ
Famitsu then asks about being able to enjoy just the multiplayer:
Cita:ÔÇ£Of course. You can [enjoy the multiplayer] even without playing the single-player game. Even so, the single-player is packed with Itagaki-like things, so IÔÇÖd like you to try it. In order to make both the multiplayer side of the game and the single player side of the game enjoyable, each of them required an amount of quantity, quality and scope. There are these two parts of DevilÔÇÖs Third. ThatÔÇÖs why it took time [to make the game].ÔÇØ
Moving away from the gameplay-side of things, Itagaki spoke about DevilÔÇÖs Third in more general terms:
Cita:ÔÇ£When I became independent and thought what IÔÇÖd create next, I had a strong desire to challenge myself with new things. Therefore I decided to create a completely new shooter game by using all the skills I have gained from making action games and fighting games ÔÇô so Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive fans alike would want to play it.ÔÇØ
DevilÔÇÖs Third has been in development for a very, very long time. Originally, it was announced in 2010. Itagaki could have given up along the way ÔÇô especially when its first publisher THQ closed ÔÇô but he persevered. In his interview with Famitsu, Itagaki explained why he continued with development:
Cita:ÔÇ£I didnÔÇÖt want to betray fans. I didnÔÇÖt want people to throw away their anticipation. The game is a grand sum of the work from all of the developers, so I really hope you pick it up. I think the game will become a breakthrough in the industry and take shooters to the next level.ÔÇØ
DevilÔÇÖs Third launches on August 28 in Europe and August 4 in Japan. A North American release is also planned.
