Fans of the Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest series will be in heaven and, thanks to the sheer amount of side-quests and optional extras, won't return for a good 30-40 hours. The little niggles are numerous, admittedly, but the sheer brilliance of the story, the strength of the characters and the wonderful StreetPass extras overcome them all. Now, about that bloody name...

This is the road the Final Fantasy series should have taken; a refreshing new take on JRPG that will have fans of the genre giddy with excitement.

Cita:The last plause goes to the soundtrack, capable of masterfully alternating splendid orchestrated melodies with tracks to the verge of metal, perfectly merging with the gaming pace. Once more the inspiration taken from classic Uematsu's Final Fantasy entries is pretty clear, and this is obviously a plus.

Bravely Default will be on sale in european shops on 13th December and we highly recommend to buy it, especially if you're nostalgic players and feel the need of a JRPG very similar to the Final Fantasies of old. Right now 3DS seems to be the perfect system for the JRPG comeback comeback in full force, may it be strategic (tactic) like the supreme Fire Emblem: Awakening or this fascinating journey into tradition called Bravely Default.

One thing that must be said about the title, is that the game looks and sounds great. The environments and characters have this uniquely drawn look to them, which makes them adorable to look at. There are moments when it all looks like a painting in motion. The 3D effect helps bring all of this to life, as it gives the dynamic camera angles and details more legs to stand upon. The music adds even more to the experience.

Bravely Default is a reminder of why the Nintendo 3DS was so strong this year. Various gameplay elements have never been this balanced before, and the story will keep you interested for many hours to come. The same goes for the presentation, which shows how lush and endearing games can truly be on the system. As a farewell to 2013, Nintendo of Europe couldn't have picked a better title. Not only because of quality, but also because it will last you for the remainder of December.
