Retro are working on two games. Both will be shown at E3, one more than the other, though. However, there is a third project that is going on even further behind the scenes and I got no info on it other than that. Third project. Not two, but three.

The first game is called "Lylat System" and is a space/planet exploration set in the Star Fox franchise. Open world Star Fox game where you can free-roam around, you guessed it, the Lylat system.

Retro began real work on this game shortly after finishing DKCTF but at first, it wasn't a Star Fox game. Around 6 months before DKCT was wrapped up, their next game was being blueprinted and was supposed to be a realistic, seamless space-to-planet explorer. A totally new IP from Retro. But, Retro reached out to Nintendo about turning it into a Star Fox world, as they felt it suited the Star Fox franchise and characters better than what they were planning on doing initially, and Nintendo were impressed. Nintendo wants Star Fox to succeed and when Retro suggested the change in direction, they immediately liked it and it was green-lighted. So it became Lylat System. This is the one that will get the full reveal at E3 and the biggest Switch game of 2018.

Some hearsay points:

- Began in development early March 2014.
- Originally a Wii U game, was supposed to get a reveal trailer at E3 2016 and released summer 2017, but was held back, then moved over to Switch in late 2016 and delayed.
- This is not a first-person game.
- Playable at E3.
- You begin the game as Fox, but you can also play as Falco, Slippy and Peppy, plus others new to the world of Star Fox.
- Star Fox is not in the title of the game, as he is one of many playable characters, not the main focus. The real focal point here is the galaxy itself and what it holds... and what wants to rule it.
- Both Retro and Nintendo wanted to re-imagine the Star Fox franchise. So expect quite a difference and a big game. Not just change in resolution.
- You can choose to play through the game as any one character and get different cinematics, story telling, side quests and gear than other characters.
- Main story is in a nutshell the same for all characters, but point of view in cinematics and their importance in storytelling, and side-quests changes depending on who your current selected character is.
- Fox and co. get more powerful. They level up. More tools, weapons, gear, vehicles, clothing and armor. Stores and specialists scattered around the system.
- You can switch between characters at any time when docked to Great Fox, home base, outposts or space stations. The other characters follow you either on foot or in vehicles.
- Switching is real-time at these hub areas, so no long loading screens as the character specific content loading is cleverly hidden in these areas.
- You can give commands to your squad as a whole or select certain characters and give orders. If you are not playing as Fox, you might receive orders from him.
- Hubs are not far-between so you can change characters almost any time you see fit.
- Six or seven main planets, each has it's unique atmosphere, landscape, population, cities, towns, lore and danger.
- Explorable areas on these six main planets range from 15 square miles, up to around 60 square miles for the biggest one.
- There are smaller planets that players can explore too. These planets are much smaller in explorable areas, though the planets themselves are big, some parts are not reachable. Yet. Future DLC?
- There are not just planets to explore. Asteroid belts, abandoned space stations and space crafts, and more.
- Returning (controllable) vehicles: Arwing, Landmaster, Wolfen, Blue Marine
- New vehicles (not complete): Airbug (two-seater buggy with jet boosters to hover over land and water. Fast and agile, but low on weapons and vulnerable) - Dro-Naut (circular shaped spy-drone, remote controlled or manned (Foxed?), can dive into water for a short period of time but can't dive very deep. Called Doughnut amongst staff because of the name and shape) - Rotasplit (Heavy-artillery helicopter that can release its cockpit from low altitude, which turns it into a mining capsule to invade areas from beneath while the helicopter itself, in drone-mode, provides aerial support)
- amiibo support. Of course. There are ten new amiibos incoming based on Lylat System. What they bring to the game is unknown.
- Holiday 2018 release

Second game is a year away, at least, maybe holiday 2019 - Donkey Kong Country: Wooden Fury. Won't get nearly as much Direct time or floor space as Lylat System. Not playable. Work started in early 2017.

Bonus: Shin'en Multimedia are working on F-Zero. Story mode, arcade and online.

Nightdive Studios, the developer currently producing the System Shock remake, has recently implied that a Switch port may be in the works.

A Discord Q&A session was embedded into the latest Kickstarter update, which asked if the studio’s recent change in direction may mean the game is broadening platforms, to which Nightdive replied:

“Absolutely. Nightdive is now an authorized developer for both PlayStation and Xbox and with the refocus on style and scope we will also be able to port the game to another very popular platform.”

That “very popular platform”, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One already mentioned, has to be the Nintendo Switch.

The update contained some other useful nuggets of information, including backer rewards, Cyberspace development, as well as the possibility of alpha and beta testing before the title’s 2020 release.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/189706-nintendo-switch/76571076/900653271

Lazzyman 6 days ago#1
-Nintendo’s releasing details about their Online Service on May 7th.
-Service goes live on September 24th
-Service offers dedicated voice chat through an existing chat service, Discord being the most popular choice, exclusive Eshop discounts, and a Games With Gold/PlayStation Plus like Service where retro games are given to people every month and are allowed to keep the games as long as they have the service.
-Nintendo is ditching the Virtual Console brand and replacing it with ‘Nintendo Classics’. Games offered through this are much cheaper than they were before and is going to launch with NES and GBA games in August with SNES and N64 games being made available late 2018/ early 2019.
-Nintendo E3 Presentation is currently 36 minutes long and focuses only on Switch titles with Treehouse being used to announce and show 3DS titles.
-The first reveal is of the Spyro trilogy coming to Switch, though there’s a reason they’ve been waiting to reveal it.
-Fire Emblem is next and the title for it is ‘Lustrous Daybreak’. Coming holiday this year.
-Yoshi is next, now subtitled Flipped Around and features the same Amiibo functionality as Wooly World. Releases in August.
-New Paper Mario game is next and is not being developed by Intelligent Systems. Goes back to the traditional partner style gameplay but still heavily features the character limitations imposed for Sticker Star and Color Splash. Coming 2019
-Mario Odyssey DLC is next. Luigi is being released that day as a playable character and adds 70 unique moons to the game. Wario and Waluigi are also being made playable characters with 70 moons each as well. No tentative release date on the other two characters, but they are being made playable at the show floor.
-Activision makes some announcements. Crash Bandicoot Amiibo is being made that adds harder time trials to the N’Sane trilogy and is teased to have some kind of functionality with Spyro trilogy.
-Black Ops 4 Battle Royale is coming to Switch with crossplay with PC and Xbox, regular Black Ops 4 is not coming to Switch.
-Sega reveals their Sega Ages line for the west and two of the games they’re releasing under it are the first two Sonic Adventure games.
-Super Sonic Racing is revealed and takes inspiration from Sonic R with some characters like Sonic running on their own while characters like Tails use vehicles. Some kind of Nintendo exclusive content is teased for the game as well.
-Next is a Metroid Prime 4 gameplay trailer. Coming 2019.
-Pokémon for Switch is revealed. It’s a new take on Red and Blue and features graphics that are midway between Sun/Moon and Pokken.
-Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming to Switch, though reports are coming in that content may have been censored on Scott Cawthon’s end, not enforced by Nintendo. Coming out in the fall.
-Two trailers for Smash Bros for Switch are the last things. One reveals Captain Toad, the other reveals Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, this is why they’ve been quiet about the Switch version of the trilogy. Gameplay is shown and is a mix of Smash 4 and Melee, being very colorful yet detailed. Coming out September alongside the Online Service.
-Ice Climbers are set to be revealed during the Treehouse Live.

That’s all. I don’t know anymore specifics than that because I’m not the person who actually saw all of this, a contact with connections to marketing saw all of this and shared it to me.
Have a good day and remember to check back on this on May 7th.

RE: Nintendo Switch - DalaiRasta - 08-05-2018
